UL 69传媒 faculty contribute to top nursing textbooks

The American Journal of Nursing鈥檚 recently released list of the 17 best nursing textbooks for 2014 contains two books with contributions from UL 69传媒 faculty members.

The College of Nursing and Allied Health Professions鈥 Dr. Melinda Oberleitner, associate dean, and Dr. Helen Hurst, graduate program coordinator, each authored chapters in textbooks recognized on the journal鈥檚 Book of the Year list.

The winners are cited in the January issue. A panel of judges selected by the American Journal of Nursing chose up to three winners in 20 categories.

Oberleitner authored two chapters included in 鈥淭heoretical Basis for Nursing鈥 by Dr. Melanie McEwen and Dr. Evelyn Wills, a retired professor of nursing at UL 69传媒.

鈥淭heoretical Basis for Nursing 鈥 placed second in the research category. Chapters written by Oberleitner that are included in the textbook are entitled 鈥淭heories, Models, and Frameworks in Nursing Administration and Management鈥 and 鈥淎pplication of Theory in Nursing Administration and Management.鈥

Hurst wrote a chapter entitled 鈥淎ntepartum-Intrapartum Complications鈥 included in the Association of Women鈥檚 Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses鈥 textbook entitled 鈥淐ore Curriculum for Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing.鈥

The textbook placed first in the critical care/emergency nursing category, and second in the child health category. 

The prestigious, peer-reviewed American Journal of Nursing has been published since 1900. It has released its Book of the Year awards list yearly since 1969.
