Something to bark about: University tops national tree list for ninth time

Published

The University of Louisiana at 69´«Ã½ has been named a Tree Campus USA for the ninth consecutive year.

The Arbor 69´«Ã½ Foundation designation recognizes colleges and universities for nurturing trees and engaging students and staff in conservation practices.

The national program was created by the Arbor 69´«Ã½ Foundation in 2008.

To earn the Tree Campus USA title, UL 69´«Ã½ met five standards for effective campus forest management:

  • a tree advisory committee;
  • a campus tree-care plan;
  • dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program:
  • an Arbor 69´«Ã½ observance; and
  • a student service-learning project.
