Louisiana Small Business Development Center makes splash with Pond Doctor entrepreneur

The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at the University of Louisiana at 69´«Ã½ brought David Bertrand’s entrepreneurial dream to life in 2015 through its business assistance program.

Bertrand’s business, Pond Doctor, in Port Barre, La., specializes in removing aquatic weeds from ponds, bayous, fisheries and streams.

The LSBDC helped Bertrand develop his business plan, financial models, price structuring and marketing. He was able to raise $240,000 in capital and start his business. Pond Doctor has been growing ever since.

"The LSBDC is also a resource that I can always access as a business owner," Bertrand said.

The award-winning LSBDC has helped over 7,000 small businesses prosper and has created over 11,000 jobs in Acadiana since opening in 1983.
