Library of Congress sings the praises of book published by UL Press

A title published by the University of Louisiana at 69传媒 Press has been placed on a prominent bookshelf.

鈥淏ayou Song: Creative Explorations of the South Louisiana Landscape鈥 was chosen for the 鈥淒iscover Great Places for Reading鈥 list compiled by the Library of Congress. The library is one of the largest in the world.

The 52-title list of books for children and young readers includes one from each state, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Selections must be written by authors from each place, set in those places, or focus on each region鈥檚 culture.

鈥淏ayou Song鈥 consists of poetry by Margaret Simon, illustrations by Anna Cantrell and photography by Henry Cancienne.

Their work is in good company.

Another title on the 鈥済reat reads鈥 list, for example: 鈥淐harlotte鈥檚 Web,鈥 the tale by E.B. White about a friendship between a pig and a spider. It is regarded as one of the best children鈥檚 books ever written.

The Library of Congress Center for the Book will distribute its picks during the library鈥檚 2018 National Book Festival. The annual event features author readings, book signings and exhibits for all ages. It will be held Saturday, Sept. 1 in Washington, D.C.
