Physics (M.S.)

The Master of Science in Physics will prepare you to enter various technical fields, advance in your current profession, or prepare for doctoral studies. Both thesis and non-thesis tracks are available. In either case, you will have the opportunity to work on independent research projects under close mentoring from your research adviser. Often M.S. student research is conducive to peer-review publications.

The M.S. Physics program offers two general research focus areas and many specialties.

Applied Physics
Specialties in applied physics include environmental physics, experimental underwater acoustics, ion beam analysis and modification, instrumentation, materials science, space physics, and ultrasonics.

Computational Physics
Specialties in computational physics include physical acoustics, planetary science and space science, geophysics, nanomagnetic materials, and signal processing.

Both thesis and non-thesis tracks are available.
