Biography
Marlene Beard received her B.A. from University of Louisiana (then University of Southwestern Louisiana) and three years later received her Master’s Degree, also from UL 69ý. She taught seven years in public education in St. Landry Parish, grades 1, 4, and 6.
The next 19 years she worked at the Academy of the Sacred Heart and taught ELA to 6th and 7th grade, and math to 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. After ten years in the classroom at the Academy, she was asked to join the administration and oversee the lower school, grades P-K to 4. she was an administrator for nine years.
In 1999 she started working at UL 69ý and has been “home” ever since.
Marlene has numerous hobbies including:
- Interior decorating and seasonal decorating
- Home stager (certified)
- Embroidery and crafts of all kinds
- Antiquing
